Alex and his little red plaster cast.

This is the result of a very long week. On Tuesday, Alex was helping me in the kitchen, stood up on his step as he always does pinching the food as i prepare it, in this case a roast chicken.

The next thing I know, he starts walking away before he’s climbed off his step, he went down hard onto his right foot and rolled over his little toe and ended up in a heap on the floor. I scooped him up and gave him cuddles as he was crying.

I called NHS direct that evening who said see how he is in the morning. I was off to the pharmacy anyway the next day so took him along there and got the pharmacist to take a look, she said see how he is in the morning, if he’s still swollen and sore then take him to the Dr’s. I asked both times whether they thought I should take him to A&E and both said no.

As soon as the doctor saw it she said it was broken and we should go to A&E. 3 and a half hours later and an X-ray it turns out he has fractured 3 bones in his right foot, just before his toes on the top of his foot.

He is pictured here sporting a lovely “red ouchy”, as he calls it and i still have to get the protective boot on it!!! Poor little thing. The next few weeks are going to be tough as he has to stay off of it and not get it wet…..sigh……
